Jon Mould

THERE were a few dreams to come true for Newport teenager Jon Mould in 2008- and there looks to be more on the horizon.

The 17-year-old from Newport received a lot of plaudits from the big names of British Cycling after competing in the National Track Championships at the National Velodrome.

Now the second-year junior rider has been elevated onto the Olympic Development Programme just four years away from the London Olympic Games.

There is no reason why endurance track rider Mould cannot make that step to the biggest show on Earth as he will be 21 when that extravaganza arrives

Jon already knows there are also no excuses to miss out on his training as the Wales National Velodrome is right on his doorstep at Spytty Park, Newport.

He won two bronze medals at the senior National Championships when finishing third in both the Scratch Race and Points Race to Beijing Olympic medalist Chris Newton.

Jon was also an instrumental part of the  Agiskoviner  gold medal winning Team Pursuit team.

These races were tremendous experiences for the youngster and extraordinary achievements. against World Class competition

At the Junior Nationals (a couple of weeks prior to the Seniors), Jon won silvers in both the Scratch and the Points Race.
